Preparing Your Home
Before your Ramirez Family Doodles puppy arrives, it's important to prepare your home. This includes setting up a crate and puppy-proofing an area where they can rest comfortably. We recommend Purina One puppy food to start
Essentials for Your Puppy:
Food and Water Bowls: Choose sturdy, appropriately sized bowls for food and water.
Puppy Food: Select a high-quality puppy food recommended by your veterinarian. We recommend Purina One puppy food to start. You can slowly transition from this to the food of your choice. We provide a starter bag, but you will need 1 small bag for the transition. If your puppy is eating their food too quickly we recommend a puzzle bowl to skow them down. This is common and they will outgrow this habit.
Bedding: Provide a comfortable and washable bed or crate for your puppy to sleep in. We provide a blanket with moms scent to make the transition more comfortable for the puppies.
Crate: A crate can be a valuable tool for house training and providing a safe space. Place mom's blanket in crate to soothe them.
Collar and Leash: A lightweight collar with ID tags and a leash for walks and training. We recommend a harness. Puppies don't love the constraint and tug around their neck and throat. They are more receptive to the harness.
Toys: A variety of puppy-safe toys for play and mental stimulation. We recommend "Y" bones and puzzle toys. We provide you with a toy with their litter mates scent on it. They recognize this smell as playtime and recommend you keep it on your lap so they chew that and never your hands.
Puppy Pads: Useful for initial house training, especially in the early weeks. You can slowly remove the pad once your puppy in confident in his new potty location.
Poop Bags: For cleaning up after walks.
Grooming Supplies: Doodle Brush, Comb, nail clippers, and puppy-safe shampoo. We also use vanilla puppy cologne and detangling spray.
Car Restraint: A seatbelt harness or crate for safe travel.

We provide a toy that smells like their litter mates to help them feel comfortable and a blanket with mom's scent to soothe them in their crate. We also include a small bag of starter Purina One puppy food, allowing you to slowly transition them to the food of your choice.

Avoiding Common Mistakes
New puppy owners sometimes make mistakes. Always have pee pads available and plenty of backup toys to keep your Ramirez Family Doodles puppy happy and prevent accidents.
